Container Shipping and Liner Fleet Management Training Course

A liner service can sail on schedule, fully crewed and technically flawless, and still lose money quietly — because the vessel left port half-empty, or the freight rate on that lane no longer covered the cost of the voyage. Container Shipping runs on tighter margins and tighter schedules than almost any other segment of maritime transport, and the difference between a profitable network and a struggling one usually comes down to a handful of commercial and operational decisions made well before the vessel departs. The Container Shipping and Liner Fleet Management Training Course, is built for professionals responsible for making those decisions across a liner network.

This course treats container shipping as a commercial optimisation problem as much as an operational one. Participants explore how liner shipping networks are structured and scheduled, how freight rates are set and defended in a highly competitive market, and how container logistics connects vessel capacity to the realities of empty repositioning, port dwell time, and inland transport. The course looks closely at vessel scheduling — balancing service reliability against fuel and port costs — and at cargo planning, where stowage decisions directly affect both revenue per voyage and turnaround time in port. Participants leave with a practical, commercially grounded approach to container shipping management they can apply directly to liner service planning, pricing, and fleet utilisation decisions.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
