Training Course in Solar Water Heating

This course offers a professional training course in Solar Water Heating. This accredited course provides participants with up-to-date knowledge on the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide range of solar hot water systems and an understanding of the theory behind solar heating. The course prepares participants for success locally and internationally in the renewable energy and solar industries. The Solar water heating course provides installers with the knowledge and skills necessary to specify, install, commission, and maintain a solar home hot water system. During the course, candidates complete hands-on training such as system commissioning and troubleshooting. It also discusses current laws, system selection, design, and other theories. As with all training courses, training is delivered by a team of qualified and experienced tutors.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Who should attend?

• Those who have both a basic and advanced understanding of the industry.
• Technicians and individuals interested in learning how to install, maintain and repair solar thermal systems.
• Engineers, designers and architects.
• Installers and anyone involved in the installation or commissioning and maintenance of solar domestic hot water systems.

How attendees will benefit?

After completion of the course, delegates will understand:

• Distinguish between different renewable energy sources and plant types.
• Perform system sizing calculations and other exercises as needed.
• Assess suitability for different types of SH systems and specific climates.
• Solar energy and applications of solar thermal systems.
• Identify components unique to different types of solar water heater and solar pool heating systems.
• List the applications, operations and features of the following SH systems - Solar Pool Heating, ICS, Thermosiphon, Direct Forced Circulation, Drain back and Freeze Protection.
• Obtain specifications for various solar collectors and determine their performance under various environmental and operating conditions.
• Identify the different types of tools used in the SH industry and explain how to use them safely.
• Determine magnetic declination, define azimuth and elevation angles, and assess shadow potential for a given location.
• Estimate the energy production of the SH system based on site features such as orientation and tilt angle.
• Describes how to attach the hardware to the collector.
• Evaluate which type of solar heating system is most suitable based on your specific site criteria.
• Identify appropriate regulations and standards for installation, operation and maintenance of SWH systems.
• Identify potential safety hazards and appropriate personal protective equipment for working with solar heating systems.
