Advanced Course in Solar Thermal Energy Systems

In a world increasingly focused on sustainability, solar thermal energy systems are gaining attention as a viable solution for harnessing the sun’s heat. Unlike solar photovoltaic systems that convert sunlight into electricity, solar thermal technologies utilize sunlight directly to produce heat, making them ideal for a range of applications—from heating water for homes to powering industrial processes.

These systems capture solar energy through various designs, including flat-plate collectors and evacuated tube systems, each tailored for different climates and needs. Concentrated solar power (CSP) systems take this a step further, using mirrors or lenses to focus sunlight and generate steam for electricity generation.

This course provides this course in Solar Thermal Energy Systems in which we will delve into the mechanics of solar thermal energy, examine its diverse applications, the advantages it offers, and the challenges that come with its implementation. By understanding these elements, we can better appreciate the role of solar thermal technology in our quest for cleaner, renewable energy sources that can help mitigate climate change and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
