Training Course in Production Technology of Oil and Gas

The Oil and Gas Production Technology course at This course offers essential knowledge for the industry, covering topics such as safety, mechanical and electrical systems, instrumentation and control, print reading, troubleshooting, communication, and the chemical technology vital for various petroleum operations.

This course serves as a comprehensive introduction to oil and gas development, providing insights into the origins of oil and gas, the decision-making processes behind subsurface developments, and their relationship with surface facilities.

Participants will learn about primary surface production systems, including export systems from pipelines to oil terminals and tankers. The course also covers both onshore and offshore production systems, detailing fixed structures, floating systems, and subsea systems.

Furthermore, it introduces the fundamental principles of project development, addressing uncertainties, health, safety, and environment (HSE) considerations, and risk management. Attendees will gain a foundational understanding of operations management in relation to reservoirs, wells, and facilities throughout the field's lifecycle.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Who should attend?

• Facilities or process engineers, either a graduate or a more experienced technical professional looking to develop theoretical competence
• Project managers who seek greater understanding of the process and mechanical design of plants
• Operations engineers looking to deepen their knowledge of the design principles of the plants
• Engineer seeking to broaden their technical knowledge

How attendees will benefit?

After completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

• Understanding of the different types of oil and gas reservoirs and how they can be developed.
• Link the selection of the subsurface development to the choices for the surface handling and product export facilities.
• Appreciate the technical differences between the major concepts for offshore production systems; fixed structures, floating systems and subsea systems.
• See examples of typical onshore production systems and learnt about pipelines, export terminal and tanker transport.
• Have an introduction to the principles of project development including handling uncertainties and risk and the basics of HSE management.
• Appreciate the important role of Operations and managing the wells and reservoir production throughout field life.
• Describe the components and processes involved in the drilling and producing of oil and gas.
• Explain exploration, production, and operation concepts associated with the oil and gas industry.
• Demonstrate competency with the operation of electrical equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics and fluid dynamics equipment; pumps and compressors; oil and gas instrumentation equipment; and oil and gas processing equipment.
• Effectively diagnose, communicate, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
• Demonstrate and apply skills necessary to gain employment in the drilling, production, service and safety segments of the oil industry.
• Be able to apply critical thinking in making decisions and solving problems.
